BA to Uruguay

Hello loyal blog readers. So we are now in Uruguay, un muy tranquil lugar, after an admittedly lazy 3 months in Buenos Aires, Argentina. For those who didn't have the staying power to finish off the previous blog posts, I will bring you up to speed: after an adventurous and ultimately unsuccessful attempt to sail from Brazil down to Uruguay, we opted for the more sedentary route of leaving Rebel in Sao Francisco, South Brazil, and spending the visa-required 3 months out of the country by journeying to Argentina, in the "Good Air" capital.

I say 'sedentary' but 'uneventful' could be a better word. It wouldn't be fair to say we accomplished nothing - 'enjoying the stress-free environ that BA offered' is how I like to put it - but it is my excuse for the lack of blog updates since August.

Buildings around coloniaWe rented an apartment for three months in the centre of the city, and we implicitly split up the tourist boxes one has to tick: John focused on the wine conundrum; I made a hash of the language barrier. John read the Buenos Aires Herald; I stumbled through Clarin. We both gave an admirable shot at understanding the meat situation, and we both gave a half-hearted attempt at a few tourist spots. I won't bore you with the details, but there are a few pictures of the apartment on the photo page.

Buildings around colonia 2With about 3 weeks until we could return to Brazil, we decided to head to Uruguay. We left, 3 or 4 days ago, for Colognia De Sacramento, a small tourist spot on Mar Del Plata. With about 10 days to go, our options are Frey Bentos (purely to have our photo taken next to a signpost to signal our strong affiliation to a tinned-based pie), and IgazĂș (which has some famous waterfall or some-such).
