My Coruña
Well howdy there. Before I begin, let me apologise for any punctuation errors. I´m having trouble finding my way round this Spanish keyboard. Still it´s got a key for ñ so one can´t complain. Also, sorry for the spelling errors, I tried spell-checking but funnily enough because "óffice" is in Spanish it didn´t really give much assistance in the matter. And I note that John has used the same title for his blog post but mine has the umlaut so 1-0 on that front.
We arrived here about 4 hours ago, with the accompaniment of The Coral (Spanish Man), The Doors (Spanish Caravan), The Clash (Spanish Bombs) and Elizabeth Smith (Learn 50 Spanish Words In A Day).
The five and a half day sail here was a success, if a little uneventful. I´m sure John will fill in the technical details. I read on the way over (on wikipedia) that in Greece they used to measure distance by the number of cigarettes smoked during the journey. So I can say with confidence that Falmouth to La Coruna is 1.5oz and 40 straights away.
Highlights include a successful if unexpected Man-O´ver-Board exercise when my hat fell off. Lot's of dolphin action (although John claims they were mearly porpoise). First time I spotted one was around midnight - it creeped up on me and sprang up mear inches from my safe spot in the cockpit. It scared the living nav-lights out of me. Still, it was about time that I changed the underwear anyway.
Also as we approached the harbour I guessed the distance from the pub to within 20 miles and the bearing to within a degree. I'd like to think I saw perhaps a glint of faux-paternal pride in John's eye, although my subsequent and excessive jig around the deck to the tune of "I is the nav expert" soon quashed that.
Since we´ve been here we just about stumbled through lunch. John ordered us a beer (which turned out to be coffee) and I ordered us random food.
Certainly another update before we leave, which we´re planning to be monday. Next time i'll come prepared with photos (which may or may not clear the porpoise/dolphin debate), and an update to the calendar.
P.s. can you please send me more emails because i'm leaning over my shoulder and John is still in Gmail.
p.p.s. we just saw that England are playing Portugal next weekend. We were planning to leave for Lisbon early next week. so either the calendar is changing or we´re rooting for Portugal.

This is rather odd, having this conversation when we´re sitting next to each other in an internet cafe.
Yes, John, i know you´re reading this out of th corner of your eye.
You'll miss England Vs Portugal this weekend.
At least Nick seems to be spending time composing an interesting read rather than talking to his "friends" aka deleting spam ;)
It's even more odd that you're holding hands :P
By the way I reckon your position is 43 21'N 8 23' W, if you could be bothered to update your google map.
Have you seen the google earth beta yet?
ñ doesn't have an umlaut, it is a diacritical tilde. Is that 1-0 to me?
