First Post!

Thought it was high time to get around to getting this blog up and running. The idea behind this site is it gives us an easy way to update on our progress, without having to send round large emails to everyone on a mailing list. Anyone can view this blog and add comments. Being an (ex) web developer, it would be wrong if I didn't add at least a couple of bells and whistles around. So on the right we've got a google map, showing our current location. We can update this easily with our long and lat position when we move around. Click on the 'view full map' link to launch a big google map of the area. Under the links you've got a link to the RSS feed. By registering the feed, you can be notified whenever we do an update. If you're using firefox, you can subscribe to the feed using a "Live Bookmark". Internet Explorer 7 has a similar feature. I've also set up a google calendar, which contains a rough outline of the sailing itinerary. Again there's a link to the feed there on the right. You should also be able to add the calendar if you have your own google calendar account. Search for "Rebel Atlantic Tour Sailing Itinerary". I've also set up a googlepages homepage (you may have noted the google theme to this). This could be useful for doing big updates with lots of pictures etc. Nothing to see there for now. So that's that. Hopefully the next update will contain some actually sailing stuff. Please say a hello in the comments so we know others are reading! - Nick
